Dr. Owen Witte has always known that his contribution to fighting disease would be as a researcher. “The clinic was not where I was going to make my stand,” he says. As a result, his science has produced advancements that directly impact the quality of life for thousands of patients. His lab research laid the groundwork for development of the targeted leukemia therapy Gleevec and the lymphoma therapy Ibrutinib. And for the past 10 years, Witte has inspired a community of scholars, scientists and researchers as director of ý’s Broad Stem Cell Research Center.
